Hi, I’m Kayla
A Registered Nurse and Certified Integrative Health Nurse Coach with two Bachelor’s degrees of Science in Nursing and Allied Health
I am Texas born-and-raised, now living in Florida. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, morning movement, soaking up the sun, cooking a good meal, curling up on the couch with a good book, and always have the travel bug.
My health journey really got interesting in 2020, when the world was navigating a global pandemic. I was in nursing school, working a part-time job, and experiencing changes in my personal life, too. Seemingly out of nowhere, I began experiencing bouts of severe gut issues, and stopped taking birth control to find that my period never came back. This sparked a rollercoaster of a journey seeing several practitioners (traditional and functional) which ultimately led to a colon resection surgery, a misdiagnosis of PCOS, and moving to Denver on my own to start my first nursing job in a large, trauma ER.
Between additional blood panels, food intolance tests, supplements, cleanses, elimination diets, stool testing, acupuncture, and medications, I had gotten to the point of feeling like I had exhausted all of my options with no real improvement. I was either thrown quick fixes that bandaided symptoms, or overwhelmed by conflicting research and information marketed in the wellness space, all funded by different industries with different agendas.
At this point, I decided to do something I had never done before: tune out the noise, turn inward, and listen to my own body. I began to do my own research and prioritize encompassing all aspects of body, mind, and spirit into healing, and finally began to see real improvements. I still am and will always be on my own health journey, but have become a passionate advocate of balanced, simple, and sustainable wellness that feels good. Fast forward… I enrolled in a nationally accredited integrative health coaching academy for nurses, started sharing online, and BMS Integrative Health was born!
My hope and prayer for BMS is that I am able to create a positive environment and connect with others to provide inspiration, educate, and help you achieve your health goals through working together one-on-one. I have a heart for those who may feel burnt out, hopeless, or overwhelmed by their own circumstances and want to work together to address the root cause of illness through the lense of individualized, holistic care.
You are not alone, your body is not broken, and you can experience true healing.
